(Update: I did, finally, receive the replacement battery pack. Took about six weeks to get it.)
I have had three Dyson upright models, over the years, and I now own an upright and a Dyson Animal V8 stick vacuum. The uprights have had to be replaced because crucial (non-replaceable) plastic parts eventually break on them, while the motor on the vacuum still works perfectly well. Dyson offers a generous trade-up program, to get customers to purchase the newest models. I strongly suspect that this planned obsolescence is part of their business model: make a vacuum with a great motor but choose other materials that have a short lifespan. Since they can't milk you for crazy expensive vacuum bags and filters, like other companies do (Miele, for instance), they get you to replace your expensive vacuum every few years.
Their cordless vacuums are built using a plastic-encased battery pack that costs around $100 US to replace. The battery pack on my V8 died after less than a year of light use. It is under warranty, and Dyson told me that a replacement had been sent, shortly after I requested one. But it's been almost three weeks and I have not received it, nor have they given me the tracking number I requested. At first they told me it would arrive in 7-10 days. When I complained about the delay, they changed that to, "It generally takes 10-15 BUSINESS days" to arrive. Three weeks? I don't believe they have shipped it.
I would never purchase the stick vacuum again. It's obvious I am going to have to pay for battery pack replacements every year or two, after the warranty runs out. I will stick with the upright models in future.
If the customer cannot reach you for service questions, you are NOT providing acceptable service. I got fed up with waiting on hold, while listening to your redundant recording.

Customer service is the worst. I ordered a vacuum to be sent to my son. Apparently handling a different billing address from a shipping address requires brain functioning at a level that neither any human being Dyson employs or software it can afford to purchase can manage. The first vacuum was never delivered, although Dyson claimed that it had been and required me to check with UPS, FedEx, and the apartment mailroom to track down the package. Of course UPS and FedEx wouldn't communicate with me because I was not their customer, Dyson was. I knew that and tried to explain to Dyson, but apparently their game is to make you jump through so many hoops that you give up and go away. Then they finally sent a "second" vacuum, but shipped it to the billing address instead of the shipping address. I tried to intercept and correct their mistake before the shipment actually went out, but no one could wrap their mind around "shipping" and "billing" being different. BTW, if you cannot conceptualize these 2 addresses being different, why do you ask for 2 separate categories of addresses???? I finally received the vacuum cleaner (never received the "complimentary" attachments) at the billing address. I spent over $100 sending it myself via UPS to the actual shipping address -- funny, that delivery went off without one delay, hitch, or missing package. I WILL NEVER purchase a Dyson product ever again!!!!!!
My dyson doesn’t work anymore as expected.
issue: vacuum is fully charged, works for 30-40 seconds, that it stops with flashing indicator on the battery. I need to put my vacuum for 2-3 seconds to the charging station. After that, vacuum will work for another 10-15 minutes with no issues.
Seems like battery issue. Dyson’s customer service is terrible. Spoke already with 6 agents during same day, and they advise to clean my vacuum (even thought I did it many time, and sent them photos of each part), and drop the chat intensionally. Don’t ever by from this company!!
Will proceed with Canada Consumer Right complain. This is a joke company!!!
Bought a Dyson PH 01 humidifier + cool. The fan works fine but the humidity feature never reaches the set limit of 40% and above. I live in a dry area where the ambient humidity is around 25% but a cheaper humidifier does a better job at dispensing misted air than the Dyson. The first machine was faulty and had to send it back and the second replacement was just as bad. Spend your 800$ somewhere else - better bang for your buck.
their customer service is the absolute worst. they don't trust when something is broken... they want so much more than you just saying that something doesn't work... even when you have a warranty they will be more strict. the customer service lady was giving too much attitude. the trick is to act frustrated. and mad, and give lots of attitude back.

I have been having problems with my dyson cordless vacuum and it has been 1 week of trying to get ahold of them and still no answer from anyone, I love this company but for such a big corporation you would think they would take pride in customer service but I was wrong. I call daily and wait 1-2 hours everyday and no one ever answers. I spend so much money on these products and when I need help there’s no one there to help me. Even when I try to online chat it always says no ones available and it is killing me because I just want my vacuum replaced or revised.
Miserable. From 'chat' to speaking to a live-rep. Have not found a remedy/solution to the problem with either the charger/battery because I can't find a person nor automated response to assist.
I don’t even want to give one star, it should be zero stars. They just give you the run around asking the same questions and then they told me to drive 3 hours away to a shop to bring the vacuum in. I will never be purchasing from this company again!
I purchased a dyson V11 cordless vacuum. The vacuum would not turn off. I called in Ausust and was told that a replacement would arrive in 4-6 weeks. Nothing,, since then I have made multiple phone, call sent e-mails, nice and nasty. No response. Today I was told they would be glad to replace it. All I have to do is return the vacuum. I responded that was not an option. It’s Christmas and I do not have another vacuum that I could be using. If I have to send it back and wait, I will have to purchase another vacuum. Presumably from a company that makes vacuums that work. The customer service rep also checked with his manager who said he could not override the policy. They refuse to give me my money back
Impossible to contact by telephone. E mail link on website does not work. Site information totally inadequate to identify my machine, so no support available, apart from irrelevant info on other equipment. All I want is to know how to clean the filter! It's definitely not highly technical. Dyson finally got back by email but couldn't clearly identify my machine, one of a pair bought in EU. I figured out myself how to do the internal filter clean, but I'm still not impressed by Dyson's UK support for their Malaysian-built vac
A moderately powerful vac. Upgraded from the Dc25, after many years. Also own the DC43, which is complete rubbish!
The operation of the DC65 upright vac is difficult at times. Very heavy and hard to turn. DC65 unit continually falls backwards (unlocking when it’s clicked into the upright position). Be warned.
This is both annoying and more important could be very dangerous to your household items or little ones who could be hit on the head as it comes flying down without warning!!
I know it’s NOT this unit, as the other DC65 we owned had the identical issue “Dyson”. A seperate purchase NOT a change over Dyson.
Dyson, you have a serious design issue that you needs to address! Not to keep ignoring this design flaw, as I have reported to Dyson, and have been told it’s how the unit is designed. Seriously Dyson!!
No sensible designer would allow this flaw Dyson e.g. Car manufacturers don’t allow doors or boots to open at will.
Dyson, your DC65 upright vac is fundamentally flawed and is dangerous! I would give it a 0 but there is no allowance for this. Someone will get hurt Dyson.
I don’t recommend the Dyson DC65!!
Terrible!!!!!!! I complained about my cordless vacuum after having it for several months, and they just give me the run around. They don’t want to replace it. Dyson basically says it’s fine and it’s my fault. I would never buy their product again!!!!!!!!
